Teena Marie Died at age 54

(CNN) -- Teena Marie, a celebrated R&B singer-songwriter, was found dead Sunday at her California home, her manager said.

Born Mary Christine Brockert in Santa Monica, California, the 54-year-old artist famously paired with late funk legend Rick James and was nominated four times for a Grammy Award, according to her official website.

Marie was found dead by her daughter after apparently dying in her sleep, manager Mike Gardner said.

"Teena was a black voice trapped in a white body," said Cathy Hughes, founder of Radio One, a broadcasting company that targets African-American and urban listeners. "I would always tell her that she was one of the greatest vocalists of our time."

Among her songs were "Lovergirl," "Portuguese Love," "Ooo La La La," and "I'm a Sucker for Your Love."

While no cause of death has been released, the singer's publicist Lynn Jeter said that Marie suffered a grand mal seizure -- a neurological event, marked by loss of consciousness and violent muscle contractions, according to the Mayo Clinic -- a month ago.

Yay, Wayne is HOME! Weezy was released from Rikers Island after serving 8 out of a 12 month prison sentence. The celebration will begin with a private party, followed by a huge party at the Miami Strip Club, King of Diamonds this coming Sunday. Wayne stated that while in prison he listened to nothing but "slow jams and sports talk." It was also stated that he had a very special someone who visited him very often during his time at Rikers. This special someone is no one other than Candace Cabrera (AKA "Black" from Flavor of Love) rumors have it that Wayne is definitely in LOVE with Candace! Anyway, glad to have you home Weezy, just don't do what T.I did and end up right back at Rikers. Can't wait to hear any new material you have for us. Jay-z Comments on Hammer's Diss!

Jay-Z comments on MC Hammer's recent diss video "Better Run Run' with and interview with DJ Semtex stating that he didn't know he said anything wrong when he referenced Hammer losing 30 million on a verse on Kanye's record entitled "So Appalled." 


Jay-Z went on to say "I didn’t know that wasn’t on the table for discussion. I didn’t know I was the first person to ever say that. Am I? I know I’ve heard that before. I know I’m not the first person to say that. When I say things I believe people believe me so much that they take it a different way. It’s not rap anymore at that point. It’s a personal attack. I didn’t mean it.


Real Talk, Hammer needs to get over it! How many times does rappers mention one another in a rhyme or verse and 9 times out of 10 it is nothing personal? Just Keeping it 100... Introduction 

Singer/songwriter/community leader/ entrepreneur Alyssa is an upcoming artist from Atlanta Georgia who’s ready to take the music industry by surprise. Alyssa is also a renowned piano, guitar, and vocal talent. Outside of music Alyssa is also known as a firm environmental and animal activist, she wants to speak for what cannot speak for itself. As a female artist Alyssa has a lot to offer she is an amazing person whos style is just what the industry needs to spice things up!

INTERVIEW 

Alyssa took the time out to answer a few questions and Keep it 100 with us, this is what she had to say:

Kim J: Alyssa tell us a little more about your self?

Alyssa G:  I’m just a girl. A girl that loves music and wants to share it with the world. I’m vegetarian. Very active. I love family time and sharing moments with the ones I love. I love to help others and try to open up others eyes to things that many are blind too. That being said, I’m an activist for pretty much anything I find myself interested in or concerned about. I love to rollerblade, I play xbox, ps3, I mountain climb, I like basketball, and cooking. I just LOVE life!

Kim J: What would you say makes you different and unique from others already in the music industry?

Alyssa G:  Wow, good question…. Tough question actually, because many are SO talented and I guess you could say we all, striving, independent or signed, just feel that we all want and feel some entitlement to be able to share our gift with everyone even if another artist may be similar or just as great. Each person has their own special thing. I think I’m very diverse with my sound. What my own special thing is? I would like to leave to the opinion of others. I love feedback so hopefully listeners and viewers can put me on to what they think.

Rapper TI Probation Gets REVOKED

As we all know last month TI was busted on a Felony Possession of CDS while on probation. Today 10/15/2010, TI's probation was revoked by a federal Judge and he was sentenced to 11moths in prison TI told the judge he needed help for a drug addiction and begged not to be sent back to prison, but was sentence to 11 months, he has two weeks to turn himself in. 


Damn TI, this is some shit! Why would you put yourself in this type of situation while on probation? You've been home for a hot minute and now your heading back! Damn I guess we will be saying FAREWELL to TI again in two week! Just Keeping it 100!

Another Student Suicide Blamed on Cyberbullying

Okay lets change things up for a moment. I know Keeping it 100 primarily focuses on celebrity gossip, interviews and fashion. In a minute you will see where the celebrity aspect ties into this story. 

A Rutgers University freshman posted a goodbye message on his Facebook page before jumping to his death after his roommate secretly filmed him during a "sexual encounter" in his dorm room and posted it live on the Internet.

Items belonging to 18-year-old Rutgers student Tyler Clementi were found by the George Washington Bridge last week, according to authorities. Clementi's freshman ID card and driver's license were in the wallet.

Clementi's post on his Facebook page, dated Sept. 22 at 8:42 p.m. read, "Jumping off the gw bridge sorry."

Clementi's body has not been recovered, but police have pulled an unidentified male body from the Hudson River just north of the bridge.

Paul Mainardi, the attorney representing the Clementi family, released a statement confirming Clementi's suicide.

"Tyler was a fine young man, and a distinguished musician. The family is heartbroken beyond words. They respectfully request that they be given time to grieve their great loss and that their privacy at this painful time be respected by all," Mainardi said.

Two students, Dharun Ravi and Molly Wei, have been charged with two counts each of invasion of privacy after allegedly placing a camera in Clementi's room and livestreaming the recording online on Sept. 19, according to a written statement by New Jersey's Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce Kaplan.

Recently Ciara and Lala sent out a video message on youtube informing gay youth that "It Will Get Better" Their video was inspired after hearing about a campaign that was started by Dan Savage and his husband after hearing a story about Billy S., a gay Indiana teenager who committed suicide after being taunted by his classmates. Do you know how many "gay or lesbian youths" will be inspired not to give up because they have the support of people like Lala and Ciara. Guess who is dating who?

That's right Chelsea Handler and rapper 50 cent are now an item! Who would have ever thought? Supposedly 50 cent left Chelsea a voicemail asking her out, he also took it upon himself to have flowers delivered to her set. How sweet, maybe not? "Everyone knows I am trying to go black Hard" is what Chelsea told her guest referring to her new boo 50 cent... "Really 50? Out of all the women in the world Chelsea Handler? WTF!!! Matt Barnes arrested on domestic violence charges

Los Angeles Lakers forward Matt Barnes was arrested Wednesday and booked on felony domestic violence charges as well as obstructing the use of a telephone line.

The charges stem from an incomplete 911 call that was received from the Barnes home. The call was cut short and per procedure deputies were dispatched to the home. Once they arrived they noted that both individuals at the home had visible injuries. The deputies decided that Barnes had been the aggressor and he was taken into custody.

Gloria Govan, the fiancee of Barnes, said that the charges of domestic abuse are false:

“Any accusation of domestic violence are false. My fiancee Matt Barnes has never physically abused me or my family.”

Barnes was released after posting $50,000 bail. He is due back in court on Monday for arraignment.

After his release Barnes posted on his Twitter account, “Don’t let your ears witness, what your eyes didn’t see.” He also responded to a question from newscaster Bryan May with the following text message, “U know any domestic violence situation 9 outa 10 times the man gets arrested. That’s the case here I was the victim but still got arrested.”

LAS VEGAS -- Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been freed from a jail in Las Vegas after posting bail on a felony theft charge stemming from a domestic violence complaint by his ex-girlfriend.

The 33-year-old Mayweather said nothing as he left the Clark County jail Friday after surrendering for booking on a grand larceny charge. Bail was $3,000.

T.I. & Tiny Arrested for Drug Possession

T.I. has had a run-in with the law once again. The King of the South and his wife Tameka “Tiny” Cottle have been arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ that L.A. County Sheriff’s deputies pulled over Tip and Tiny for making an illegal U-turn while they were driving in a Maybach on Sunset Boulevard around 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday (Sept. 1). After officers smelled marijuana in the vehicle, the couple was taken into custody in West Hollywood, Calif. They remained in custody as of press time and are scheduled to make an appearance at the Beverly Hills Municipal Court on Friday. Bail was set at $10,000.

Police stated that they discovered a controlled substance in the car, which, under California law, constitutes methamphetamines, ecstasy, and a form of codeine used in Sizzurp. Inside of T.I. and Tiny’s car were Styrofoam cups, the cup of choice for those who drink the popular Southern concoction, but cops are now claiming that they may have found X pills in the whip.

The Atlanta MC is currently on probation after pleading guilty to weapons charges. He served seven months behind bars at a Federal Correction Institution in Arkansas last year.

T.I. and Tiny were married on July 30 and the rapper-turned-actor is fresh off the success of his film Takers, which debuted at No. 1 over the weekend.

Ocho Cinco "The Ultimate Catch:" Whats the purpose of watching?

Rumor has it that Chad and Evelyn, from Basketball wives are dating. So what is the point of watching The Ultimate catch when we all know that he isn't dating whoever the wins the show? I think they need to do a better job with the timeline in regards to when the show is taped and when they actually air it. By the time the viewers watch these dating shows the one who is "so called looking for love" is usually already publicly dating someone else.
